JMS Books LLC was created in 2010 by J.M. Snyder, a multi-published best-selling author of M/M erotic romance.
J.M. began her writing career in RPS, or real-person slash, and will always have a soft spot in her heart for slash fan fiction. By 2000, her fan fic website had over 5,000 unique daily visitors, and she knew she had found her niche with gay erotic romance. She decided to make the jump from fan fic to original slash, and self-published her first novel in 2002.
Unfortunately, at that time, self-publishing didn't afford the same opportunities it does to authors today, and J.M. didn't seem able to reach as many readers as she had as a fan fic author. Though she learned how to market her books to stores and readers alike, she was still a far cry from her dream of one day being a "full time writer." But in 2006, she started working with e-publishers who helped get her name out in the M/M community. She quickly learned the ins and outs of electronic publishing, and through working with a variety of publishers, discovered what she liked—and what she didn't.
By 2010, many of her early works were coming out of contract, and she wanted to retain more of her earnings by self-publishing, which had grown exponentially from where it had been when she was first starting out. However, a friend of hers suggested publishing him and a few others in addition to herself. After looking into the logistics of starting her own publishing company, she took the plunge in July of that year.
Since then, JMS Books LLC has launched a young adult imprint, Queerteen Press, and has published over 90 authors in a wide variety of genres. We release 4 e-books a week, and 3-4 print books a month. Our catalog contains over 590 e-books in a variety of lengths, from flash fiction short stories to 300+ page super-novels. We have over 100 print books available, including novels, poetry, nonfiction, and anthologies, and over 20 series that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
While we have experimented with many different types of books, such as poetry, nonfiction, memoirs, thrillers, and literary novels, our heart and soul remains LGBT romance, whether sweet or erotic. Some of our recent releases include (click on the link to read an excerpt from each):

The Other Man edited by Paul Alan Fahey

Gay Nonfiction
Blurb:
Who is the other man?
He's an accident waiting to happen: the skateboarder round the bend, the smiling barista with the extra hot mocha, the computer geek eager to retool your mate's hard drive. He's a relationship gatecrasher bound by no rules and with no sense of fair play. Like Caesar, he comes, he sees, he conquers. On the flip side, you or I can be the other man, charging in and breaking the bonds of a committed relationship without a thought to the pain and misery inflicted upon the injured parties. Face it: We're not all innocent bystanders in other-man scenarios.
The Other Man is an artistic collaboration by and about gay men and their relationships. If you've ever been the other man, had him invade your life, or are just plain curious about this beguiling, unpredictable and dangerous creature, then this anthology of personal essays is for you. Twenty-one of our most acclaimed authors, many Lambda Award winners and finalists, write candidly about either being the other man, suffering the other man or having their relationships tested by infidelity. What they tell us is we must take heart, it does get better and one day our luck is bound to change. We'll survive the bumps and detours in our relationships and weather the storms, or resolve to move on. Along the way, we'll hope to meet someone new and simpatico, maybe even our long-awaited soul mate. Life will be good again. Or will it?
Contributors include: Perry Brass, Austin Bunn, Rob Byrnes, Mark Canavera, R.W. Clinger, Lewis DeSimone, Paul Alan Fahey, Wes Hartley, William Henderson, Allen Mack, Jeff Mann, Tom Mendicino, Erik Orrantia, Felice Picano, David Pratt, Glen Retief, Jeffrey Ricker, Rodney Ross, Jason Schneiderman, Philip Dean Walker, and Chuck Willman. Edited by: Paul Alan Fahey.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this anthology will go to the It Gets Better Project.

Ticket to Paradise by Joann Lee

Lesbian Erotic Romance
Blurb:
Jessa Dawson is a cynical manager of a five-star hotel in Roanoke, Virginia. She's never been the type who longed for adventure, romance, or living in the moment. For Jessa, her career has always been her top priority, though lately even that part of her life is becoming less fulfilling. Jessa isn't much of a people person and has always tried to fly beneath the radar whenever possible.
Beautiful and mysterious Holly Reynolds is quite the opposite. She's always up for an adventure. As a retired model, Holly has traveled the world, yet she still has one fear in life. Holly is terrified of being in confined spaces, planes especially. When she travels, she finds herself becoming lost in an alcoholic oblivion to block out her anxiety.
Jessa's and Holly's paths cross on a flight to Las Vegas. Jessa is instantly annoyed with Holly's constant chatter, but Holly is simply trying to prevent a panic attack from occurring. By the time the flight lands, the sparks are undeniable, and Jessa finds herself becoming lost in Holly's charms. After a little too much alcohol, neither of their lives will ever be the same.

Crazy Like Fox by Michael P. Thomas

Gay Erotic Romance
Blurb:
Fox McHardy leads a charmed life. Puget Sound penthouse, gorgeous boyfriend, jet-setting job -- everything he's ever wanted, he's gotten, including the heck out of the small Iowa town he grew up in. Even the trip he takes to Miami to surprise his boyfriend Jeremy is something of a long-shot wish fulfilled.
Until he arrives in South Florida.
Once things start to unravel, they do so with alarming speed, and he finds himself riding shotgun in a rented convertible with his new sworn enemy faster than he can say, "I want my old life back."
During an unscheduled stop on the cross-country road trip From Hell, Fox passes up a perfectly good opportunity to keep his mouth shut and finds himself planning the town's first legal gay wedding -- his own, to a man he's pretty sure he should hate. But someone needs to set a positive example for the queer and questioning youth in this corner of Middle America and, after creatively arranging certain of the facts of his life more attractively, he is proud to offer himself up as a role model.
Small Town, USA, steps up; the grooms are widely celebrated, and generous offers of food, flowers, and picture-perfect venues pour in. The only real challenge will be keeping the lies straight and the truth under wraps until they can get out of town.

  3. "The Other Man:21 Writers Speak Candidly About Sex, Love, Infidelity, & Moving On"

See how the contributors to this anthology answered this question: "How difficult was it to write your essay, considering the thoughts and feelings involved and the fact you were sharing them with strangers?”

    2. Thank you, Kayelle, The Other Man was a labor of love and took almost three years and two different book proposals and one wonderful publisher, JM Snyder, to take a chance on something this ambitious and make it happen. A percentage of the profits from sales is going to It Gets Better. A real win-win situation.

  4. Today’s blog posts are about introductions. I’ve already introduced myself so I guess I should introduce my stories. No better one to start with than the first book I published with JMS Books, which was also the first book I ever had published, period.

Something About Trevor is set in my native and beloved Yorkshire. Yes, there’s references to the game of cricket, but don’t worry if you don’t know your silly mid offs from your square legs. The story is mainly about how an out and proud gay man gets involved with someone who always thought of himself as straight, but eventually discovers there’s just something about Trevor.

    Blurb.

Paul Harrison is completely straight. His house will not flood again. And gay men don’t play cricket. Eventually Paul will find out just how incorrect these preconceived notions are.

When the river overflows its banks, Paul is forced to find temporary accommodation. The only practical suggestion comes from Trevor, an out and proud work colleague. Despite Paul’s hesitancy regarding Trevor’s offer of hospitality, he accepts and soon grows to admire Trevor, his humanity, his determination, and his abilities with a cricket ball.

In order to protect his fragile emotions, Trevor keeps people at a distance by wearing gaudy clothing and behaving outrageously. He had no way of knowing that doing the right thing by offering Paul his spare room would lead to such a big change in his life.

A tenuous connection develops between the two men. But misunderstandings and in-born prejudices threaten to derail their growing friendship. Things get even more complicated when Gary, Trevor’s ex-lover, shows up.

Can Trevor learn to trust again? Will Paul listen to his heart and discover that, despite first impressions, there’s just something about Trevor he can’t deny?

    2. Thanks for the kind offer. but I'm such a newby where social media is concerned. I needed hours of coaching from J.M. this morning to be able to blog what I have.

Assuming I remember what to do, I'll post details of more books during the week on days when it's appropriate.

  5. Hi Kayelle! I'm Tinnean.

Sorry to be late. I've spent the afternoon working on the edits for my latest story to be published by JMS. Where the Heart Chooses is a little unusual, since it's not only f/f, but f/m as well. (I know, who'd have thought. *g*) It's tough finding an e-publisher for m/f, and I'm very grateful to J.M. for giving me this opportunity.

  6. Hello! My name is Joshua Skye. I am an author with JMS Books, but I'm also a fan and own a number of books by my fellow JMS authors. It's all great. I'd like to mention a couple of my publications with JMS, if I may.

My first publication with JMS was "The Singing Wind," an esoteric science fiction novel that melds Native American folklore, horror, and meekly world news sensationalism anchored by a gay romance. It was a 2012 Dark Book Club Selection!

Another book of mine JMS has graciously published is "The Theft of Dorian Gray." It is an erotic steampunk fantasy that was given a very flattering review by Hearts on Fire calling it "freaky," "surreal," and "a fun read."

My latest release is my second single-author anthology called "Whispers From The Gloom." From hardcore horror to romantic fantasy, it has something for everyone.

Thanks so much for having us. I am very proud to be a part of the JMS Books family.

  7. Hi! I'm Joann Lee. I am an author at JMS Books and my debut novel Broken Star was released in January. Since then I've had a couple short stories released, Ticket to Paradise and Heat of July.

I wrote solely in the f/f romance genre. I dabbled a bit in paranormal with my upcoming October release, Wicked Attraction. I'd like to do an entire paranormal romance novel in the future.

Thanks for having JMS Books on your blog! :)
