Legacy of Buchanan's Crossing
Genre: Fantasy Romance, Contemporary Romance
Author Name: Rhea Rhodan
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
What price will destiny demand?
Warding the Crossing has always been Cayden Sinclair's destiny. With her beloved Gran growing weaker, it's time the little witch took her place. Juggling substantial curves for her frame and an inconvenient inability to control her power has always been a serious challenge. But not until discovering her fated Keeper is the extremely hot, tragically clean-cut insomniac who's ignored her for months, does she truly fear failing her legacy.
Now that he's finally on the road to the top with an offer from a big developer, Clint MacAllen can't allow his struggling construction company to be threatened by a vicious nightmare, or his inexplicable attraction to a goth clerk working the graveyard shift at HandiMart—no matter how potent they are.
J. Milton Developments has its own agenda for Buchanan's Crossing, and they'll spill blood to get it.

About the Character

Name: Cayden Sinclair
Age: 27
Gender: female
Birthplace: Boston, MA
Profession: convenience store clerk, fencing instructor, steampunk engineer, antique collector/dealer.
Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Witch
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: 5'0" (not including custom platform roller blades); 140 lbs. on a bad day; super-pale skin; hazel eyes; improbably red, curly hair with about half the locks randomly died black; tat of her special oak tree at Buchanan's Crossing—its top branches just below her breasts, the roots curling around her upper thighs.
Who is the significant other in your character's life?
Clint MacAllen.
How does your heroine dress?
Cayden prefers a blend of pseudo-Victorian goth clothing (some of which are authentic antiques) and leather.
How educated is this character? Is she book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Having been expelled from nearly every Ivy League college on the East Coast (and an equal number of prep schools), she's well-educated but has no degree.
What does she have a knack for doing?
Fusion—from her wardrobe, to the names she chooses for things, to steampunk engineering.
How do others perceive your character based upon looks? How true is this assumption? Does your character care about those assumptions?
Cayden is only self-conscious about her weight when it comes to Clint, yet remains as unapologetic about it as she is about her affection for goth or being a witch.
If someone from your character's past showed up, who would she most want it to be, and why? OR who would she most NOT want it to be, and why?
She has no patience for her mother, who's always made her feel like an enormous disappointment.
What inner doubt causes your character the most difficulty?
She's deeply afraid the Crossing won't accept her as the next Warder.
When (if) she lies or is upset, what gives him away?
When Cayden becomes upset or overly excited ;>), she loses control of her magic.
Why do you have a hard time trusting Clint?
He's way too hot and all-American to be genuinely interested in a woman like me.
Who's your best friend?
My crow, Nevermore. I don't care for his colorful language, but he's the best friend and familiar a woman or a witch could ask for.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

When your writer is writing about you, what do you think makes your writer the most happy?
My confidence and sense of style.
What makes your writer the most sad?
How I grew up.
Why do you think your writer loves to write?
I think, rather than loving to write, Rhea HAS to write in order to remain sane.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your writer? Thank you for saving Clint for me rather than some Barbie-type who'd never have been able to save him from himself.

Author Bio

Rhea Rhodan resides in Minnetonka, Minnesota and has been telling herself stories since long before she could write. She attended the University of Minnesota with a focus on Journalism, then Brown Institute for Broadcast Journalism. After many adventures, misadventures, and a couple of short marriages, she found the love of her life in Regensburg, Germany, and has been living happily ever after since.
She journaled those adventures extensively (some might say rabidly) beginning in middle school, but didn't combine her writing and story-telling until several years ago, when one of the stories grabbed her by the throat and shook her like a rag doll until she gave in and wrote it. Having tasted freedom, her muse refuses to return to the confines of her head, and has successfully turned the tables, keeping her at the keyboard to appease it.
Her stories always had a twist of magic or a touch of the paranormal. Why the romance? Because she believes in happy endings, and helping people imagine them inspires them to create the magic in finding their own.
