About the Character

Name: Kyle
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean
Profession: Bodyguard
Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Merman
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars:
Kyle is quite pale since he spends the majority of his time under the water and away from the rays of the sun. He has brown hair which is cropped short. He has found having long hair tends to get in the way when you live underwater. His eyes are a silvery blue and an exact match in colour to his tail and fins. The constant swimming has given him excellent upper body strength. From the waist up he has a typical swimmer's build. On land he is fully human and stands a little under six feet tall, not that measurements mean much in the ocean.
Who is the significant other in your character's life?
Kyle is torn between two different men. Prince Finn, heir to the throne of the sunken city of Atlantis, is a merman like Kyle and Jake Seabrook is a human living in England.
How does your hero dress?
Naked is the preferred mode of dress for Kyle, though he is learning that being out and about in England does require him to be covered up to a certain extent. He dresses under protest.
What is your character's viewpoint on wealth? Not necessary, nice to have, important, obtain at all costs?
Kyle has very little concept of money since it isn't used under the ocean. On land he is actually very wealthy, although he didn't realize it at first. The longer he stays on land, the more he will have to get used to things like money, but thankfully for him the funds he has are enough that he can live comfortably for the rest of his life, even if he never does learn the value of money. I think he will because he's a pretty fast learner.
Is he close to family?
Kyle looks up to his father and hope to follow in his footsteps as the leader of the clan. He is close to his mother and keeps a watchful eye over his younger sister. Making the right choices for his family is of paramount consideration for Kyle, even at the cost of his own happiness.
If someone from your character's past showed up, who would he most want it to be, and why?
Kyle would most like to see his mother, Maurissa. The oceans are dangerous places and although he understands her decision to swim away from the safety of Atlantis, he would like to know she is well.
Can your hero keep a secret? If not, why not? If yes, why?
Kyle isn't generally a secretive person, but there is one secret which he can keep very well, that of being a merman. Of course there are sometimes circumstances where his secret is revealed because Kyle is the sort of person who will do the right thing even if it means revealing what he is.
What is your character's biggest need at the beginning of the story?
After a devastating shark attack on his nomadic community Kyle's biggest need becomes finding a safe haven for his people. Even if it means giving up any chance of love.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
I wish she hadn't told everyone I'm a merman, but thankfully she has done it in a way that it makes me appear as only a character in a work of fiction.
Was there anything your writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
My writer expected me to sit around pining over Finn when he broke my heart. She definitely didn't expect me to fall for someone else.
What do you wish your writer would write next?
I want her to write my first lover, Dax's story. Although we parted on good terms I want to know that he is well and has found someone to love. Unfortunately she tells me that although she is keeping tabs on Dax, his story isn't the next one.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Although he scares me by what he can do, I would like to know more about Caspian. I'm just not sure he is the type to get all loved up with someone like the rest of us. He's not exactly sociable.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your writer?
I know my story isn't over yet, but could you at least give me a hint about what is to come?

Interview with Marilyn Baron

Why did you write this book?
I wanted to feature a heroine of a certain age because I'm not getting any younger and I believe people don't just want to read about twenty-somethings. This book was originally called, The Colonoscopy Club, so right away you know what age I'm talking about. In Stones, I take a humorous look at a woman who can't seem to get closure in her life. My central character Julie has issues. Even her issues have issues. Stones is about how Julie deals with those issues and features the themes of first loves and second chances.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I write in a number of genres—from historical romantic thrillers and suspense to paranormal and women's fiction—and I love to read a variety of genres. Among my favorite genres are thrillers, literary fiction, and romantic suspense. I have read a lot of amazing YA lately.
What is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own characters)?
Gabriel Allon in the Daniel Silva books.
Do you enjoy films and/or TV shows? Which are your favorites?
I love movies and I watch a lot of TV. Some of my favorite TV shows are Castle, Rizzoli and Isles, Major Crimes, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, The Bridge, and Downton Abbey.
What are you working on at the moment, and what are we likely to see from you in the coming months?
I am currently finishing Book Three of my Psychic Crystal Mystery Series. Book One is Sixth Sense; Book Two is Homecoming Homicides. Book Three is called Murder on the Repositioning Cruise.
I have a new women's fiction book coming out this year in The Lobster Cove Series from The Wild Rose Press (TWRP) called The Widows' Gallery. I'm very excited to be participating in this series. Lobster Cove is a quaint and quirky fictional town on the coast of Maine near Bar Harbor. Participating TWRP authors write stories across all lines as long as they're set in Lobster Cove.
Here's the blurb for The Widows' Gallery:
Four recently widowed women meet on a Mediterranean cruise, bond over the Renaissance masterpiece, The Birth of Venus, in Florence, Italy, and find love, friendship and joy in their joint venture to open an art gallery in the quaint, quirky, coastal town of Lobster Cove, Maine.
Please tell us some fun facts about your latest book, Stones.
The Colonoscopy Club (Now the published novel Stones) finaled in the GRW Unpublished Maggie Awards for Excellence in 2005 in the Single Title category.
I lived in Florence, Italy, for six months during my junior year in college, where I studied Art History, Italian, English, Mythology and Religion. Part of Stones is set in Florence. The story is also set in Atlanta, Miami, and Palm Coast. I was born in Miami and currently live in Atlanta and I own a beach condo in Palm Coast. My central character owns an upscale jewelry boutique called Stones, hence the name of the novel. I love jewelry, which is why I chose that career for my heroine. My birthstone is an emerald which is why I wanted an emerald necklace on the cover. A priceless emerald medallion is also featured prominently in the book.
In Stones, Julie is planning her son's wedding and in real life, I'm planning my daughter's wedding.
The first line and my favorite line of the book is "Thank God for lint."
The book will be officially released September 26. Right now it's only available in paperback. It was released early in paperback in time for my appearance on a panel at the Decatur Book Festival Saturday August 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. called "Tackling Sensitive Issues in Fiction." Additional information about the event is available on https://www.facebook.com/events/623254154448358/ If you're in the Atlanta area over Labor Day I hope you'll attend the presentation/book signing.

Excerpt

To go or not to go to Palm Coast is no longer the question. The question is what will I do once I get there? Will I really have the nerve to reconnect, or as my daughter Natalie likes to say, "hook up," again with Manny Gellar? How will I feel tomorrow when I see him alone for the first time after 25 years? Will I finally reveal what I feel compelled—no, what I'm busting a gut—to tell him? That he has a beautiful son, that our son Josh is getting married in just three months? I'm probably rationalizing, but I think he finally has a right to know.
If I could, I'd fix what is wrong with my marriage and put it back the way it was before. Before Matt yanked me out of Miami by my roots as if I were a noxious weed he was tossing out of a flower garden and carelessly transplanted us to Atlanta. Before we moved a state away from preoccupied with his sexy-sounding German second-in-command, Gretchen. Before he stopped sleeping with me in the biblical sense. Before I turned fifty.
my family and my best friend and a business I'd worked a lifetime to create. Before Matt sold his freight expediting business to a German conglomerate for mega-millions and agreed to run the company for them from Atlanta for the next two years, barely consulting me. Before the German occupation, or rather before he became
All I really want is closure. I'm convinced that meeting Manny Gellar again is the only way I will ever come full circle and reconnect with my life.

Including Make Me Surrender – by Tina Donahue
99¢ for a limited time
Blurb for Tina Donahue's Make Me Surrender (ménage):
She has a proposition…to win their attention, passion, hearts.
For over a year, Mercy's had her eye on Travis and Dutch, two of the hottest guys on the Oregon coast. Dark and dangerously virile, Travis owns a saloon that caters to bikers. Dutch looks like one, right down to his impressive tats, and operates a motorcycle repair shop on the premises.
When a position opens in the saloon's kitchen, Mercy sees a way to be near these sinfully sexy men, wanting the job and lodging, her cabin snuggled between theirs.
Travis isn't so sure about having Mercy nearby. She's deliciously curvy, but too nice. He's into temporary fun. To Dutch, forever is a dirty word.
Imagine their surprise when sweet little Mercy encourages wild nights of carnal pleasure with a dash of bondage and spanking…followed by friendship and tenderness.
Before she's through, these tough guys will be the ones who've surrendered.

Excerpt

Shaking off her uncertainty, Mercy pulled a plate from beneath the counter. On it was her gift to Travis and Dutch. Treats she always offered them when they came here.
Travis reached the counter first, his long fingers wrapped around a bottle of Lipton's Iced Tea and three packages of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
Mercy's mouth went dry. She imagined his hands on her, the pads of his thumbs dragging over her nipples, sending a thrum of delight through her body.
She managed a wobbly smile. He produced an interested grin, making a dimple in his beard-shadowed cheek. Her belly fluttered and her heart sank. His attention was on the plate she'd set out, not her.
"Hey," she murmured, soft and warm.
His gaze flicked up. A flash of heat burned in his dreamy eyes before it faded beneath what appeared to be confusion. As though he hadn't expected that sultry greeting to have come from her. "Hey."
His voice was so fucking deep and rough, Mercy had difficulty breathing. Jill made a noise that sounded too turned on. Mercy kicked her friend's running shoe; an order for her to beat it.
Jill pivoted and hurried off, her narrow shoulders drawn to her skinny body, her blonde ponytail bouncing over her thin neck.
"Want one?" Mercy breathed to Travis. She stroked the lip of the plate with the same care she would his balls and cock. If he'd only let her.
Travis studied her breasts as though he'd never noticed them before, which he hadn't. Given the unusual summer heat, the air conditioning had kicked on, making it nicely chilly in here. The cold air had pebbled Mercy's nipples against her stretchy cotton tee. When she'd seen him and Dutch pull up, she'd ditched her shapeless Fast Fill jacket.
Travis's sexy smile said he appreciated her boobs.
Mercy pulled back her shoulders to give him an even better look at her chest.
Joining them, Dutch dropped packs of M&M's and Lay's potato chips on the counter. "What's this?" He regarded the plate.
Travis dragged his attention back to the gourmet cupcakes. Mercy had baked them this morning, hoping he and Dutch would show up as they usually did on Sunday afternoons. Their only time off.
"Breakfast and dessert," she cooed.
Travis lifted one dark eyebrow. Dutch had finally discovered her tight-as-hell nipples and remained riveted on them. "Huh?"
Mercy's skin prickled with excitement and more than a little lust. "Technically, they're bacon and banana cupcakes, with maple, peanut butter, and bacon topping."
She ran her finger over the edge of one then offered a taste of the frosting to both men. Eager to know who'd lick her first. "Try it. It's as good as the other stuff I've given you."
They reached for her at the same time, their hands bumping each other. Dutch curled his fingers around her wrist. Before he could lift her hand, Travis drew Mercy's finger between his lips.
She blinked wildly. Her pulse pounded out of control at the wet heat of his mouth and Dutch running his thumb over her wrist. Travis suckled gently, swirling his tongue around Mercy's nail, driving her crazy with need.
"Hmm." His prominent Adam's apple bobbed with his swallow.
She fought an insane urge to lick it and his bristly throat.
"You should try this," he said to Dutch.
"I was about to." He twisted his mouth at her finger still damp from Travis's awesome tongue. Dutch kept stroking her skin, until he seemed to realize what he was doing. After releasing her, he grabbed a cupcake and devoured half of it in one bite. Frosting clung to the corners of his mouth.
Mesmerized, Mercy watched him chew.
He swallowed. "Fuck—I mean, damn, this is good. Even better than the other ones you've made."
Travis nodded as he gobbled his cupcake. Another strand of hair swayed forward, grazing his unshaven cheek.
Sex radiated from them, weakening every part of Mercy's body, making her reckless and bold.
"I have a proposition," she whispered.
Dutch's chews slowed. Travis forced down a swallow and frowned. "What? Didn't hear that."
She spoke louder. "A proposition. I have one."

Researching a Publisher: 3 Author Tips by Mary Caelsto @harmoniczen #RLFblog #musecharmer

Mary Caelsto
More choices for authors means more ways to publish and more publishers. Having a completed, polished manuscript is only part of the work of getting published. The next step is to find a publisher. With so many companies arriving on the scene and going out of business, it can be difficult--maddening even--to find a publisher. So what's an author to do?

The very first thing I suggest to authors is to leverage the power of a favorite search engine. This shouldn't be the only criteria an author uses to choose a publisher. It can, however, provide a good start. The best way to search is to use proper terms. The publisher's full name should be searched with quotation marks around it to ensure that the name as an entire phrase comes up. For example, searching "ABC Books" without the quotes will bring up results with "books" in it, but not the ABC. That probably won't be very helpful. Even if the publisher has a unique name, use the quotes. What you feel is unique may not be when searched against the entirety of the internet.

Next add a modifier. I use a word like problems or issues. The way this looks in a search engine is like this:
"Publisher full name" + problems
Then, look at the results that come up. Newer dates are bigger issues, as are venues. Let's take a moment for some honesty. No publisher will make every author happy. This means that there is a good chance that some result will come up. A story in Publisher's Weekly or other high visibility blog will raise more alarm bells than a single result from one author.

It is the author's job to determine which issues, if any, aren't deal breakers. Personally and for many authors, any issues make the publisher a non-starter. There are too many good publishers out there to get caught with the bad ones.

Beyond a search engine, the next step in smart publisher research is doing some good old-fashioned leg work. Visit the publisher's website. Look at their covers. See if they lean heavily to a specific genre or subset of books. An author should make sure that his or her books will fit in well with the publisher's literary culture (or lack thereof). A sweet romance author in a sea of erotic books where it's obvious the website and publisher caters toward the steamier books wouldn't be a good fit, for example.

Yet, there's one more tool for smart publisher research: reading the books. Yes, this takes time. Yes, this may be an investment. However, the prettiest cover and best laid out website could conceal books with poor editing. If an author absolutely cannot find time to read books, then check reviews. Many good review sites will mention issues with editing or storyline problems.
There's more to publisher research than these three steps; however, by starting with these processes, the author will have a good feeling which publishers will do right by them and whose books the author will feel proud about being among. Taking some time in publisher research will prevent trouble and heartbreak down the road. And, there's a good chance it will lead to better sales.

Business or Pleasure by Ashley Ladd @ashleyladd #RLFblog #LGBT

Business or Pleasure
5 Easy Questions is an interview is designed to be quick, easy, and fun. Today's guest is Ashley Ladd.
What is your go-to meal to order when you dine out? Your favorite "I know it will hit the spot" item.
Tijuana Flats salad with black beans and lots of salsa. Either that or Tijuana Flats chicken chimichanga wet with verde sauce.
What were you like when you were in school?
Pretty shy and introverted. At least I thought so then, but looking back, although I wasn't in the In Crowd, I had a lot of friends. Still, I was the high school newsletter co-editor, media news reporter, and 2nd lieutenant on our Flag Corps squad. I was an A-B student without trying too hard. When I got into college and actually tried, I was almost a straight A student.
Would you rather stay inside and watch snow falling, or get out in it and build a snowman?
I love to go outside and build snowmen. Sadly, I live in South Florida (which I just saw termed as "America's wang"). I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio, and about ten years ago when I went home to visit my Dad in February, there was a pitiful snowfall. However, it was the best I'd seen in years, so I went outside and built this pathetic little snowman. Before I knew it, Dad was outside helping me. I haven't had so much fun in ages. I really wish I could find the pictures we took of our snowman building adventure.
What is your favorite quote?
Live long and prosper (Spock – I'm a huge Trekkie)
What was your favorite book as a child?
I loved Nancy Drew mysteries. When I was about 12 I discovered Harlequin romances and loved those, too. I can't recall the name of any one particular book.

Character Interview: Gabriel Nicholetti from Blind Sight @Pam_Moran #RLFblog #amwriting

Blind Sight

About the Book

Title Blind Sight (PSI Sentinels: Guardians of the Psychic Realm)
Genre Paranormal/Romantic Suspense
Author Pamela Moran
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Gabe Nicholetti, reclusive PSI agent, would rather stay on his sailboat, surrounded by water – moored off a remote island in the British Virgin Islands – than deal with the ramifications of the dead woman in his visions.
That woman, Rily Carrigan – a very much alive, for the moment, police detective in Eagle Crest, Oregon – makes it clear she has less than the time of day for the likes of him. Not that it matters.
He has only one purpose.
Bring her murderer to justice.
Rily has neither time nor patience for what she calls the woo-woo. But she's about to tumble neck deep into that waiting chasm as a murky past she thought long buried rises up to swamp her present life.
Will Gabe, PSI agent with a dark secret, be able to keep her alive? Or does his own past condemn Rily to a death she can't avoid?

Interview with Gabriel Nicholetti

Tell us about yourself, please.
What's to tell?
I'm in my mid-thirties. Single and going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.
My earliest memories are of the Institute. That's the Institute of Psychic Studies (IPS), where I was raised. The Agency is what you might call an offshoot organization of IPS, and is where I've worked my entire adult life.
Sailing is my passion, my salvation. I'd rather be on my boat than just about anywhere.
What is it that you want, but cannot have? Authors call this the conflict of the story.
Peace.
A way to stop the visions.
That's why I spend so much time on my boat. Water is supposed to offer relief, form a barrier. Usually it does. But with these last visions, all that Caribbean water hasn't done a damn bit of good.
I still see her, the green-eyed blonde, staring at me from dead eyes.
These visions are always of murdered people whose deaths I can't prevent. No matter how hard I try.
Maybe that's what I want more than peace – to be able to stop the murder from happening. To actually save a life.
What inner doubt causes you the most difficulty?
I started to say I don't have time for doubts. But then I thought more about the question.
Some call psychic abilities a gift. I call it a curse.
To see someone dead, to know, at that moment, the person is still alive and there's not a damn thing I can do to prevent the murder, how is that anything but a curse?
So, yeah, I have doubts. Doubts about why the hell I've been saddled with this curse.
What's your external complication? In the story world your author created, explain what it is you fear most.
Finding the blonde in my vision, having to watch her die and not being able to bring her killer to justice. That's my fear.
If I can't find justice for the dead, then what's the damn purpose of the visions?
Tell us about your significant other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
I don't have a significant anything. Been there, still have the literal scars to prove it.
Alone suits me fine. I don't play well with others. Life is better that way.
What is your family like?
Never knew my father. My mother left me at the Institute when I was young. Ben Garrett, head of both the Institute and the Agency, took me in, raised me. While he's the closest thing I have to family, right now our relationship is a bit strained.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?
Talia Garrett. She's Ben's daughter and the reason he and I have that strained relationship.
I get it. She's his daughter. He loves her in spite of the past. Hell, at one time I thought I loved her myself. That delusion ended when she tried to kill me.
So yeah, her showing up would be bad. For her.
What special skills do you rely on?
I see Spirit Totems. You might be surprised at how useful that can be. Every person has one, a mammal that is right at a person's spiritual core.
A person whose totem is a Wolf is a lot different than say a rabbit.
Or a jackal.
Being able to see the totem is like having a short hand to the inner workings of their mind.
I'm also good at blocking, which comes in handy for turning the tables on a stalker, even if she happens to be an ex-lover.

About the Writer

Why did you choose to write about this character?
Gabe appeared on his boat, so resigned to the fact of his visions, knowing he couldn't save the beautiful blonde but determined to try. How could I not fall in love with him?
Was there anything you discovered about this character that was a surprise to you?
What surprised me most was how grounded he was, especially with what he has to deal with. Then there's his sense of humor. Although his thoughts might be dark, he kept his tone on the lighter side and avoided that pit of negativity.
When you wrote about this character, what made you the most happy? What made you the most sad?
I'm thrilled I was able to translate Gabe to the page – he's a man with a huge weight on his shoulders but he approaches his world in a balanced way, with humor and understanding. He doesn't like his lot but takes life head on, accepting it for what it is and what it means.
All that said, I am sad about the conviction he can't save Rily. That she's destined to die. It's heartbreaking to watch him struggle with all of that.
Why do you write?
So many stories to tell – so many voices in my head!
What do you want to write next?
Right now I'm working on Gavin's Woman and after that the edits for Darkwater Echoes. I don't have a title yet for Ramon Ortega's story, but his will be the next one.
What other character from this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?
Ramon Ortega. He first appeared in Stolen Spirit and has been pushing for his own story ever since. He tries to take over every scene he's in and believes he can keep a lid on his burgeoning psychic abilities. Essentially he's disavowing their existence.
I've got news for him. He wanted his own story and I'll give him that, just not sure he realizes how much I love to torture my heroes!
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Lots of them! The series is called PSI Sentinels: Guardians of the Psychic Realm, but each is written as a stand-alone story and can be read separately.

5 Easy Questions: Renee Reynolds @eenayray #RLFblog #RegencyRomance

A Marquis For All Seasons
5 Easy Questions is an interview is designed to be quick, easy, and fun. Today's guest is Renée Reynolds.
Who is your "book boyfriend"? You know, that hottie you read about and drool over.
I should answer something classical and literary like Mr. Darcy or Dr. Zhivago, but I'll take any one of the Mackenzie brothers from Jennifer Ashley's series – especially mad Lord Ian. Dear good lord, how I could love that kilted man.
Would you rather stay inside and watch snow falling, or get out in it and build a snowman?
I live in Texas. When it snows, you bundle up, go outside, and play until it's all melted. You build the world's tiniest snowman, slide down your driveway on trash can lids, and eat the stuff when it piles on your car bumper. We don't waste those rare treats of snowfall around these parts!
What is your favorite quote?
This one is a bit of a toss-up. I love to quote Shelby Eatenton Latcherie from Steel Magnolias: "Remember what Daddy always says – an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure!" That's Biblical truth right there. The other quote that rattles around in my brain comes from my sweet grandmother (although I think she stole it from someone else): "Begin as you mean to go on." Making that choice at the start directs your path pretty well in a variety of situations.
What was your favorite book as a child?
I reread Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink so much that I wore the binding out my paperback copy, and left permanent smudges in the cover ink where my fingers dug in while reading. Caddie was a tomboy allowed to run wild with her brothers, and I loved living their adventures as they explored the woods, creeks, and neighbors around their farm. It's a timeless story about practical jokes, family, and growing up.
What was the last movie you watched (home or theater)?
I watched The Awakening on Netflix just last weekend. It was a terrific little horror flick set in post-WWI England about a published author who exposes charlatans who claim to commune with the dead. She's called to investigate supposed supernatural phenomena at a boarding school, and is shocked to discover things that cannot be explained. She begins to question everything she thought was rational about the world. I love period pieces, England, and a good scare. Two thumbs up!

Romancing the Fairy Tales: When Things Get Gritty @Eva_Lefoy #RLFblog #amwriting

Darkest Magic
I don't know how many fairy tales you've read recently, but perhaps you remember a few hair-raising bedtime stories from your childhood, or perhaps you're a fan of the TV shows Grimm or Once Upon a Time. As stories go, fairy tales aren't always romantic and they can be rather gritty. They often include danger, death or destruction, trickery, magic, evil beings and innocent victims. In fact, I'd say those are almost prerequisites for a good fairy tale! But for a romance story, unless it's Urban Fantasy or Paranormal, not so much.
When I was assigned the Grimm Brothers fairy tale, The Blue Light, I had a hard time wrapping my head around the romance. The king tosses the soldier out of his kingdom and in return the soldier has a dwarf kidnap the princess and forces her to do menial cleaning for him! Later, he marries her but it's more a tale about revenge against the king than it is love for the princess. And for a romance, that angle just won't work.
I found it better to put the hero in a tighter spot! Make him a beta wolf of a werewolf pack, stuck between duty and pack rules, and his ongoing need to protect his love interest. The danger, death and magic all came from other individuals – two witches and a dwarf, plus the alpha wolf. Rising against those forces won't be easy for the beta wolf, but then, he's no innocent victim. The Paranormal touch added the right kind of darkness to the story's re-telling so that it matched that "fairy tale" feel. The romance got pumped up and yes, I included some smexy stuff, 'cause what's a great romance without that? All in all, the re-telling had a more modern-day feel and I like to think it's more entertaining than the Grimm version. See the original version of the story here:
My version is called Darkest Magic.
Nik Epperstein's alpha lost his mate two years ago and took an evil witch as his new bride. Ever since then, Eli's leadership has become violent, bordering on insane. When Eli attacks him, Nik's healing powers mysteriously vanish. He can't defend himself, nor protect the wolf he secretly loves. Only through the help of a foul-mouthed witch and an overly-dramatic dwarf will he save her – but their assistance comes at a price.
Caroline has tried for two years to lure Nik into her bed and can't understand his hesitation. After all, she senses their mating bond loud and clear. Then Nik disappears. She confronts her father who tells her Nik is dead, and she's next on his chopping block. Without Nik to protect her, she flees the pack and is kidnapped by a man half her size.
Reunited at last, the young wolves have one last chance to ignite their bond. But love must wait when battle looms. Eli and his wife attack, and aren't above using dirty tricks to win. If Nik and Caroline survive the battle, the dwarf and his wife will require them to make a promise that will change their lives forever...
