She lives in the Great Lake Basin area of the USA. Two grown sons and an Australian Shepherd fur-baby dog complete her family. Mary loves communicating with readers and friends. Genre Contemporary Western Romance
Author Mary J. McCoy-Dressel
Book heat level (based on movie ratings G, PG, PG13, R): R
This book can be enjoyed on its own and out of series order. Rancher Jase Carlson doesn’t understand the ache in the hollow of his chest, since his ex-wife ripped his heart out. She doesn’t follow the court rules where his children are concerned, making him even more pissed off. Harboring a bad attitude, he wishes he wasn’t a gentleman when he comes to the aid of a quick-tempered, sexy blonde. He can’t allow her tight jeans and sweet smile to sway him, even after he’s coerced into spending time alone with her. Fighting the torturous battle going on within his own mind and body, he can either deal with it—or succumb to the woman who appears to be everything he didn’t know he needed.
In an attempt to save her rebellious teen sister from herself—as her guardian, Brenna Page leaves everything behind and moves to Canyon Junction, Arizona. When she unexpectedly meets a hot-headed cowboy with intense blue eyes and muscles to die for, the first thing she wants to do is get away. Since she can’t seem to shake him, Brenna wonders if that same grudge-filled cowboy with an attitude is someone worth taking on. But still dealing with painful memories, and a sister who wants nothing to do with Arizona, the last thing she needs right now is a horse ranching cowboy interfering.
One wrong turn. Two broken families. Brought together by chance, and need.

Sweet Christmas Kisses 2 #sweetromance @MilouKoenings - 18 other authors #RLFBlog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.
Sweet Christmas Kisses 2

About the Author

Milou Koenings writes romance because, like chocolate, stories with happy endings bring joy to the world and so make it a better place.
She's lived all over the world, working as an intellectual property lawyer and freelance travel and technology writer, but loves to stay home with her family more than anything.

Interview with Milou Koenings

Why did you write this book?
Sweet romance and holidays just seem to go together so well! This is a group project by 19 authors from Sweet Romance Reads. We banded together to create a boxed set of holiday novellas.  It was a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit as early as possible. My contribution, Sweet Blizzard, is another installment in my Green Pines Romance series. The story spun itself after I came across my grandmother's holiday spice cookie recipe.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Romance, but as long as a book has a good love story in it, I'll read any genre - from contemporary romance, to historicals or political thrillers.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
That's a tough one.  Hermione Granger or Lisbeth Salander? Neither of them are romantic heroines!  Sticking to romantic heroines, I'll vote for the little known Jean Paget from A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute. She's strong, tough, kind - and based on the war-time experiences of a group of real-life heroines that included my great-aunt.
What are you working on at the moment, and what will we see from you in coming months?
I'm working on another a Green Pines Romance, a prequel to my novel Reclaiming Home, as well on as a brand new series.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Sweet Christmas Kisses 2 is a boxed set to welcome in the holiday season with 19 heartwarming and wholesome novellas from New York Times, USA Today, national bestselling, and award-winning authors.
Our novellas take you from the Smoky Mountains to Florida's sun-drenched beaches, from the Italian Alps to Paris, France, from the Midwest to a quirky little town in Arizona.
The Sweet Christmas Kisses 2 bundle features all-new, stand-alone stories that are sure to make you laugh, sometimes bring tears to your eyes, but always put you in the Christmas spirit. Foreword by New York Times bestselling author, RaeAnne Thayne.

Passions in the Dust #historical by @FayeHall79 #RLFblog

Passions in the Dust
This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

About the Author

Faye Hall's passion driven, mystery filled books are set in small townships of North Queensland, Australia during the late 1800's.
Each of her novels bring something symbolically Australian to her readers, from Aboriginal herbal remedies, to certain gemstones naturally only found in this part of the world.
Each of her books tell of a passionate connection between the hero and heroine, surrounded and threatened by deceit, scandal, theft and sometimes even murder.
These romances swerve from the traditional romances as Faye aims to give her readers so much more intrigue, whilst also revealing the hidden histories of rural townships of North Queensland.
Faye finds her inspiration from the histories of not only the township she grew up in, but the many surrounding it. She also bases most of her characters on people she has met in her life.
Faye was able to live her own passion driven romance, marrying the love of her life after a whirlwind romance in 2013. Together they are raising their 9 children in a remote country town in northern Queensland, Australia.

Interview with Faye Hall

Why did you write this book?
Passions in the Dust is set mostly on a cattle station in Bowen, North Queensland and describes the hardships so many settlers went through.  Along with showcasing the hardships, I wrote this book to try and show a romantic side to Australian history that is not so unlike that of England or the Americas.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I enjoy both a good romance and a good murder mystery.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
Currently working on ‘Lust & Chastity’ which is my own take on one of the seven deadly sins and heavenly virtues.  But I also two other scripts currently being looked at by publishers.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Ella Matthias thought by coming to Bowen, Australia she would find freedom from the life of servitude she’d been forced into, as well as the lover, Seth Kenner, who had so coldly deserted her.  Never could she have imaged that it was Seth who had sent for her.
Again being drawn into Seth’s life, Ella finds herself surrendering to passion, and experiencing pleasures in the Australian outback that she had only ever dreamed of.
These pleasure come under threat though by those who wish to destroy everything they had worked so hard to achieve.  Together they must fight bush fires, cattle rustlers, poisoned stock and a wife and fiancé who had come to Australia to claim what they believe is rightfully their’s.

Andrea R. Cooper author of Viking Fire @andreaRcooper #RLFblog #historical romance

Andrea R. Cooper author of Viking Fire answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

Author Bio

Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.
What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids.
She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.

What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
Tex-Mex. I love the cheese, spiciness, and variety of Tex-Mex food. Nowhere else has food like ours in Texas. (ex. I won’t mention the state, but when queso was ordered, it was a can of cheese soup   :P)
Describe the perfect vacation.
Is there such a thing for a family? LOL. For me, a perfect vacation would be one where the kids have a great time, don’t whine, sleep in, and my husband and I can relax. We’re saving up for a Disney cruise – so maybe in about five years J
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
Barbies. Not so much for the wardrobe, house, or cars (though they were cool), but I created stories and characters with them. I had soap operas and family sagas galore.
What are your hobbies?
Besides writing, I love Zumba, dancing, reading, and catching up on my favorite shows: Game of Thrones, Reign, Vikings, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, I Zombi, Lost Girl, etc.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
The same genres I write: fantasy, paranormal, historical romance, romantic suspense. I’m also a member of several book clubs, and they make me read novels I would never choose for myself, but expand my horizons and lead to great discussions.

She lives in a 100-year-old Victorian house with her amazingly support hubby who is also a geek and shares her love of traveling. What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
Seafood. Any kind, but I do love lobster. If I’m in Cape Cod my very favorite is lobster roll. Yum! I spent many summers camping on the cape digging for clams and having clam bakes. My dad always had a container of fried clams from Sandy’s.

Jamie Fraser from Outlander. Hard to beat him from the book or show. Try listening to the book on audio. That’s the best! (((sigh)))

#MFRWauthor. Always like to see what my fellow authors are doing, what cool new books they have out, and I also like to support/retweet when I can.
Describe the perfect vacation.

When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I read a variety—erotic romance, paranormal or contemporary, of course, but I also love thrillers, ghost stories and Sci-Fi. Might be why I write in a couple sub-genres too.

Kris Bock author of The Dead Man's Treasure @Kris_Bock #RLFblog #romanticsuspense

Kris Bock author of The Dead Man's Treasure answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

Author Bio

Kris Bock writes novels of suspense and romance involving outdoor adventures and Southwestern landscapes. The Mad Monk’s Treasure follows the hunt for a long-lost treasure in the New Mexico desert. In The Dead Man’s Treasure, estranged relatives compete to reach a buried treasure by following a series of complex clues. In Counterfeits, stolen Rembrandt paintings bring danger to a small New Mexico town. Whispers in the Dark features archaeology and intrigue among ancient Southwest ruins. What We Found is a mystery with strong romantic elements about a young woman who finds a murder victim in the woods.
If you love Mary Stewart, Barbara Michaels, or Terry Odell, try Kris Bock’s stories of treasure hunting, archaeology and intrigue, and art theft in New Mexico. Read excerpts at www.krisbock.com or visit her Amazon page.

What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
I live in a small New Mexico town where we have fast food and Mexican/New Mexican food. While there's something to be said for green chili chicken enchilada casserole (or a good pizza), when I get to the "big city" – Albuquerque – I want something different. Indian, sushi, or Thai are usually my top choices.
What's your favorite hashtag to watch on Twitter?
Although I'm not a scientist, many of my friends are, and I do science writing for children (writing as Chris Eboch). I love great stories about women in science, so I've been enjoying both the humor and the attention given to scientific women by #distractinglysexy
What are your hobbies?
I like hiking, rock climbing, and watching the sunset from the patio. My home office looks out on nature, complete with distracting wildlife such as hummingbirds, roadrunners and foxes. My BFA in photography is used mainly to show Facebook friends how lovely the Southwest is. It's a good thing I like outdoor activities, because here "nightlife" means watching the bats fly out, and then stargazing. On a dark night, you can see the Milky Way streaked across the sky.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I prefer romantic suspense that is on the adventurous rather than violent end of the spectrum as well. Mary Stewart is my role model, and my biggest compliment was having one of my books compared to hers. I also like mysteries if they aren't too gory. I enjoy historical romance, because I don't write it. It's easier to turn off the writer brain and enjoy the story. I write for children as Chris Eboch, so I read a lot of middle grade novels (for ages 9 to 12). For those, I like fantasy and adventure stories. The dozen books I have out from the library right now include mystery, romance, fantasy and humor, for children and adults.
What kinds of things do you read when you're researching a new book?
I've been working on a treasure hunting series (so far The Mad Monk’s Treasure and The Dead Man’s Treasure), so I've been reading about real-life lost treasures of the Southwest. Bandits hid treasure and got killed before reclaiming it. Travelers got lost or attacked or had to abandon their trunks in the desert or mountains. Miners kept their gold mines top secret. With all the stories, you might think treasure was hidden in every cave and crevice. Many people today are still looking for those treasures. The stories provide lots of fodder for novels. (Learn more at http://swarmchairtraveler.blogspot.com/search/label/treasure%20hunting).

Good thing Rebecca has recruited some help, in the form of a green-eyed charmer determined to show her that a desert adventure can be sexy and fun. But there’s a treacherous wildcard in the mix, a man willing to do anything to get that treasure – and revenge. As the owner of a small, struggling dance school in a depressed neighborhood she supplements her income with a late night job at a dive bar. Haunted by the fear of humiliation, if her secret is revealed, her life was under control until the night he walked into the bar.
Peyton Lang, having run from a bad neighborhood, lives the lifestyle of a successful billionaire. Frustrated that his current multi-million dollar project is stalled, Peyton drops in to LEATHER-ICIOUS for a simple drink and late night entertainment. What he saw was a beautiful redhead. What he found was he wanted her.
After a lusty night with a hot pole dancer, Peyton and Fuchsia's worlds are about to collide.

Introducing Peyton Lang

Name: Peyton Francis Lang
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Alaska, USA
Profession: Billionaire
Describe his/ body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars:  Fair skinned, 6’2”, 180 lbs of toned muscle, small scar on chin
Who is the significant other in your character's life?
Fuchsia Quinn
Tell us about this character, please.
Peyton travelled from Miami to East Millburg (which is based on Detroit) to negotiate a business deal with a woman who was blocking a multimillion dollar project. The evening before the meeting he drops into a dive strip club for a drink and some entertainment. He is captivated by a red headed pole dancer. By chance he meets her in a diner later that night. They have a hook up at a local inn. Next day he meets the woman and it turns out to be the pole dancer. She runs a small ballet school for underprivileged children. She’d been a professional ballerina, but an accident and then an unsuccessful surgery ended her career.
Fuchsia Quinn is struggling with the loss of her dream job and forced career change and the challenges and frustrations of teaching in a severely depressed community. She’s furious with Peyton for trying to close her school just to build a mall. But she’s also in love with the handsome and charming man.
How does your hero dress?
Tailor man suits – Hugh Boss, Armani
Does he scrape by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
With a penthouse condo on the waterfront in Miami and a 3-storey log cabin to retreat to on weekends in Alaska and a private jet to fly from coast to coast- I’d say he lives extravagantly.
What is your character's viewpoint on wealth?
He loves wealth. His father ran out on the family and his mother struggled to raise two children. His father was killed in a bar brawl and left him a fortune which he then tripled in dollar worth.
What is your character's family like?
Peyton’s mother is an alcoholic. The struggles of her younger life were too much and she took comfort in a bottle. Peyton and his sister have tried to get her sober, but the lure of the whiskey is too much. Peyton’s younger sister, Lanna, is a proud woman who loves her older brother dearly. Peyton assumed the male father figure role after his father disappeared. When the pressure got too intense he took to drinking and started to run with a gang, but sobered up when Lanna confronted him.
Is he close to family?
Very. His protective of his little sister and her daughter and has built a lovely home for his mother in Miami and keeps her well looked after.
Does he have children?
Not at the beginning of the book. He has a young niece he calls Princess whom he adores. He adores her enough to sit through her ballet recital.
How do others perceive your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
A successful rich billionaire who has a lucky streak a mile wide. Not completely true. He got a headstart, but he worked hard to grow that beginning into a sizeable fortune.
Does your character care about what others assume about him?
No. He is his own man. The world can follow him.

BONUS:
What do you think your biggest flaw is?
My Temper. It has gotten the better of me on several occasions and gets me into trouble quite a lot.
When there is a setback, what doubt or flaw surfaces?
My arrogance. When Fuchsia kept tossing up road blocks stopping the construction of my latest project, my pride jumped forward demanding “Who is this woman? And why does she think she can stop me? Me!”
What can I say – I’m human
How do you handle challenges?
I rub my hands together and settle down to work it out. I have a basic belief anything can be solve I f you throw enough money at it.

About Your Writer

Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
Because I was pounding on the inside of her head demanding that my story be written.
What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
The scene where I was an absolute bastard to Fuchsia. It showed my angry, petty side and I’d rather the world just thought of me as a handsome, charming demigod.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
My sister Lanna. She had an interesting life being my little sister, but if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be the man I am today. She made me sober up and grow up. I owe her a lot.
Why do you think your writer loves to write?
I don’t know that she loves to write. While I was bouncing around in her head there were a lot of other characters in there – several people, some not human and even a dragon. I think she writes to get us out of her head so she can sleep at night.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your writer?
Thank you for writing Fuchsia into my life. I was just a workaholic. The desire to make more money was my driving force. Fuchsia opened my eyes and my heart.

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

About the Author

Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet.
Kim is a Seattle native and a direct descendent of twentieth-century Russian nobility. Her grandmother was a childhood friend of the doomed Grand Duchess Anastasia, and the romantic yet tragic story of how Babushka escaped Communist Russia with the aid of her American husband will most certainly one day fuel one of Kim’s novels. Another novel in the queue will involve her husband’s ancestor, the seventh-century proto-Viking king of the Swedish colony in Russia.
For the time being, however, Kim has plenty of work to do in creating her projected 8-book Arthurian series, The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles, and other novels clamoring for attention. She has been a published novelist since 1999, beginning with the original editions of Dawnflight (Sonnet Books, Simon and Schuster) and Liberty (writing as Kimberly Iverson, HQN Books, Harlequin).

Interview with Kim Headlee

Why did you write this book?
I wrote The Challenge as a bridge between books in my series The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles, which is historical at its core with elements of action-adventure, military combat, political intrigue, fantasy, spirituality, and of course romance. I have always been fascinated with the concept of demon possession, and The Challenge is my experiment with this aspect of the fantasy genre.
What is your favorite genre to read?
These days I’m gravitating toward Urban Fantasy with spiritual undertones, such as the Bobby Dollar series by Tad Williams.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Lessa from the Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, the first kick-butt heroine I ever came across (decades ago, now) who retained her femininity while being a strong, intelligent leader and warrior.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I am working on Book 3 of The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles, Raging Sea, and hope to have it available for sale by the end of the year.
Please tell us about your latest book.
The gauntlet is thrown. One must die. Refusal is not an option.
Arthur the High King of Breatein has fallen captive of a longtime enemy, the Saxon warrior-princess Camilla, who lusts to avenge the death of her betrothed at Gyan’s hands and will stop at nothing, even the black arts, to achieve her goal. Because Gyan and Arthur have grown estranged, she fears that Arthur may side with Camilla and make her his new queen.
To meet Camilla’s challenge, Gyan must face all her demons—public as well as private.

Luanna Stewart author of Portrait of a Girl @Luanna_Stewart #RLFblog #romantic suspense

Luanna Stewart author of Portrait of a Girl answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.
Author Bio
Luanna Stewart has been creating adventures for her imaginary friends since childhood. As soon as she discovered her grandmother's stash of romance novels, all plots had to lead to a happily-ever-after.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Luanna now lives in Maine with her dear husband, two college boys and two cats. When she's not torturing her heroes and heroines, she’s in her kitchen baking something delicious.
Writing under the pen name Grace Hood, she has two novellas published with The Wild Rose Press. She is excited to have a book published under her own name with Entangled Publishing.

What's your favorite down-home family style meal?
Roast chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole (the kind with a streusel topping), roasted Brussels sprouts, and gravy. Chocolate cake for dessert.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
If I got to choose the cuisine, it would be Italian. I would get either a vodka cream sauce, or a mushroom cream sauce over pasta, a green salad with the house vinaigrette, and I’d dip my crusty bread in olive oil. I would have wine with dinner, and a limoncello liqueur afterward. I would also have dessert, because I always eat dessert, hehe.
Describe the perfect vacation.
The vacation I’m dreaming about, and saving for, is a trip to Scotland. I’ll rent a cottage in the highlands for a couple weeks and immerse myself in the culture. I’ll visit the area my ancestors hailed from and sprinkle a pinch of my dad’s ashes there.
What are your hobbies?
My current #1 hobby is knitting. I learned to knit as a child and dabbled now and then, but got serious about it within the past ten years. Everyone in my family gets something hand knit for Christmas. And I’m building a good collection of sweaters, socks, and shawls for me. When I sit down in front of the TV in the evenings, I pick up my knitting.
Before the knitting, I was mad about counted cross stitch. And yes, everyone in my family got something cross stitched for Christmas, hehe.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
Sometimes I’m in the mood for mysteries - British set, cozy style are my favorites. Other times I prefer a nice, thick, historical romance that whisks me away to a time when ladies wore gloves and changed their gowns a few times a day, and men knew how to waltz.

Monica La Porta author of The Lonely Wolf @momilp #RLFblog #paranormal

Monica La Porta author of The Lonely Wolf answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

Author Bio

Monica La Porta is an Italian who landed in Seattle several years ago. Despite popular feelings about the Northwest weather, she finds the mist and the rain the perfect conditions to write. Being a strong advocate of universal acceptance and against violence in any form and shape, she is also glad to have landed precisely in Washington State. She is the author of The Ginecean Chronicles, a dystopian/science fiction series set on the planet Ginecea where women rule over a race of enslaved men and heterosexual love is considered a sin. She also published two other series: the futuristic love story across the universe, Elios & Gaia, narrated in two books; and the paranormal romance/urban fantasy series The Immortals set in Rome. Stop by her blog to read about her miniatures, sculptures, paintings, and her beloved beagle, Nero. Sometimes, she also posts about her writing.
What's your favorite down-home family style meal?
Like every Italian, I love to cook, but I must have been Japanese in another life, because my favorite family style meal is a big pot of ramen soup, filled with fresh ingredients.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
Either sushi or dim sum.
Describe the perfect vacation.
Cancun, my husband, and a kindle.
What are your hobbies?
When I am not reading or walking, I paint, make sculptures with pasta ceramica (a homemade dough made with corn flour and white glue,) build dollhouses, and I create felt food to decorate my Christmas tree.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
Love stories, in any genre. Paranormal with a sprinkle of dystopian and steampunk is my favorite, but I love space opera as well.
