When Ash Remains @DenaGarson #RLFblog #PNR #historical

Welcome Dena Garson author of When Ash Remains, a new Native American historical paranormal romance.
Why did you write this book?
In truth, because a friend of mine nagged me for years to write it. The secondary reason was because the myths and legends of the Skinwalker fascinated me. I live in Oklahoma so some of those Native American stories seem a little more, well… real.
What is your favorite genre to read?
It depends on my mood – it's a mix of historical, paranormal, contemporary, fantasy, urban fantasy, and sci-fi romance. That's probably why I write in so many of those categories!
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Doctor Who. Not only does he get to travel across the universe(s) but through time. He has seen (experienced) all kinds of people, places, and cultures. And yet he is a protector and has a strong sense of equality and respect for life. I hope that series runs for another 50 years!
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm working on a Steampunk romance as well as a follow up to Mystic's Touch.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
The Steampunk romance will be part of a box set that comes out later this year. And I'd like to get into a sci-fi romance set that a group has been putting together for later this year. *fingers crossed*
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre: Native American historical-paranormal
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
A warrior with a mission
There isn't a buffalo or deer that Kajika cannot take down. So when his cousin is slaughtered he relishes the chance to track down the killer. The trail leads him to a woman with gifts he has trouble believing in. Despite their differences he cannot fight his instinct to protect her from all threats – even those he cannot see. That drive even rivals his desire to explore every inch of her body.
A woman with a destiny
Knowing the spirits will protect her, Ahyoka allows the handsome warrior to take her to be questioned by his chief about the unexplained deaths in their village. He may not believe in her abilities but he is one of the few who doesn't treat her like something to be feared or shunned. He awakens feelings that make her yearn for things she thought she'd never have. Her biggest fear is that once he learns the full extent of her gifts he will reject her like most of her tribe did.
A killer twisted by hurt and anger
Kajika and Ahyoka must work together to find the one responsible for the string of deaths in and around their villages. Faith, trust, and even a little bit of love will be needed to defeat the killer and right the wrongs committed in the pursuit of power and revenge.

Avery Foster first met the charming and irresistible Jackson Parks three years earlier at her best friend's wedding. After days of flirting with the sexy best man who made her pulse race the two embarked on a passionate night unlike any she'd experienced before. Truly believing that they shared a connection, Avery had been heartbroken when she woke the next morning to find a note to learn that she had been nothing more than a one night stand.
Now years later and on a much needed vacation from her demanding job, Avery is looking forward to the quiet days of solitude she is sure she'll find in the mountains of Colorado. What she doesn't know is that her matchmaking friends have other plans in store for her. They've arranged for Jackson to join her in hopes the two can rekindle their romance that fizzled out far too soon.
Jackson always regretted the way he had left things with Avery. Older, wiser and in a better place in his life where he wants something more, Jackson is sure that Avery is what he's been looking for all along. He knows he burned a bridge the day he'd walked out on her, but he refuses to let that be the reason he doesn't at least try. He'd been foolish enough to let her go once. He wasn't about to make that same mistake again.
And this time, he won't let her go…

Will Beatrice admit to her deception and tell Raynor the truth—or will this chivalrous knight turn away from the women he desires?
Join Raynor and Beatrice as they travel toward their inevitable destination of love.

Introducing Beatrice Bordel

Age: one and twenty
Gender: female
Birthplace: England
Profession: noblewoman
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I am considered petite, especially when I stand next to Sir Raynor Le Roux. I have straight hair that falls to my waist, a rich brown in color, and my brown eyes are mixed with amber. My skin is porcelain, and I have a dimple in my right cheek.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am quite practical in nature. We have little coin, and I’ve never known any luxuries. I enjoy gardening and sewing and cook better than most. I play the lute and compose my own songs. I have been afraid of horses my entire life because when I was young and riding with my father, we were thrown. I survived the fall, but my father died soon after. I’ve grown up in isolation, with my mother and grandfather as my only companions. Grandfather says I’m most stubborn.
Who is the significant other in your life?
I have fallen in love with the most dashing knight in all of England, Sir Raynor Le Roux. Unfortunately, I told Sir Raynor a small, white lie in order to protect myself. If he finds out the truth, I shudder to think what might occur between us.
Do you have children?
More than anything, I long to be married and have children. We are poor, though, and Grandfather cannot afford the bridal price. I fear I will never know the touch of a man nor carry a babe in my belly.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
If my father could once again enter my life, I would be the happiest woman in England. He died in a riding accident when I was young. I can still remember how we would race on his horse around the meadow, the colors flying by, and the wind in my hair. I loved Father more than anyone in the world and miss him every day.
What is your biggest personal flaw?
My biggest flaw is that I am a liar. I never was before, but suddenly I find I have lied to my landlord, to the man I love, and to the man I hope will offer me refuge in his castle. Lying is a grievous sin, and I can only hope that God will forgive me.
What would you like people who hear your story to know?
I did receive my happily ever after with Raynor, thanks to Alexa Aston. I would tell others that they must be strong and truthful, especially with those they love.

No One on Earth @JenniferTLoring #RLFblog #scifiromance #SFR

Welcome Jennifer Loring author of No One on Earth, a new m/m sci-fi romance.
Why did you write this book?
After Glows Publishing had put out a call for m/m sci-fi romance novellas to be collected into a holiday-themed anthology. The concept interested me, so I experimented with a couple of different story ideas, all involving Native American folklore, before settling on the legend of the Handsome Fellow. I grew up on a reservation, but this was my first time writing an indigenous character. I don’t think it will be my last. J Anyway, the novella first appeared in Starstruck Holidays this past Christmas and is now releasing on its own.
What is your favorite genre to read?
It will probably always be horror. I also love non-fiction.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Two are characters I’ve loved since I was a teenager—Irrylath from The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and Zach from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood. I also adore Constantine from Robin McKinley’s Sunshine.
What are you working on at the moment?
A Gothic/paranormal romance novella for After Glows, concepts for a narrative game, and a lot of short fiction.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
March will bring my novella Prison Made of Mirrors, a retelling of Snow White, from Strange Fictions Press. The final book of The Firebird Trilogy (The Pieces of Us) releases from Limitless Publishing in April, and the first Erotikós anthology—containing two of my erotic horror short stories—from DarkFuse. In May, I’ll be in a contemporary romance anthology that I can’t talk about yet.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre: m/m sci-fi romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Jon, a psychic since childhood, has never felt at home in the world, even less so after his lover died on Winter Solstice a year ago. Since his abilities failed him when he needed them most, he turns to alcohol and rejects his family’s assertion that he is a Star Child—an alien/human hybrid. When Jon’s sister suggests he should look into the legend of Handsome Fellow, Jon decides that if he cannot find happiness himself, he will bring it to others.
Erukkass’ people, a species of interdimensional aliens, have been observing Earth and interacting with humans for so many centuries that some Native American tribes believe their ancestors originated from the stars. After his lover passed away in what appears to be a medical accident, he accepts a scientific mission… but not for the reasons his government expects. He has located his beloved on another timeline, in another universe—ours—and he will not leave without him.
Jon returns home from work one evening to find a gift of his own—a strange young man waiting for him. Erukkass unveils one stunning revelation after another, including the truth behind his lover’s death and the nature of time itself. Can he and Jon forge a future together, or will two timelines that have always intersected, no matter when or where, finally be forced to diverge?

Welcome Mandy Devlin from Desire, Deceit, and the Doctor, a new contemporary romance by Kryssie Fortune.

About Desire, Deceit, and the Doctor

Genre Contemporary Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): UK 18
Twelve years ago, Mandy Devlin moved away from her friends and family--under threat. If she returned in the next ten years or told anyone who fathered her baby, her boyfriend’s great-aunt would bankrupt her family. She’s a single mom who dreams of her lost love and a good spanking. When she’s finally free to return to Westhorpe Ridge, the last person she expects to see is Adam--the man she loved and lost so long ago.
Dr. Adam Montgomery doesn’t know he has a son. Thanks to his great-aunt’s will, he has nine months to find a bride or he loses Montgomery Hall and the fifteen million dollars she left him. Although he seduces Mandy on his first night home, he still believes she betrayed him twelve years ago. No way would he marry a woman like her.
As Valentine’s Day looms, someone tries to kill Mandy. Is Adam trying to get rid of her? Or can Mandy trust him to protect them?

Introducing Mandy Devlin

Age: 30
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Westhorpe Ridge, North Carolina
Profession: Teacher turned Hotelier.
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m a redhead, with a redhead’s temper. Not that I ever stay angry long. I used to wear my hair long, but as a single mom, it’s easier to wear it shorter. It still flies about in spiral curls. Other than that, I’m sort of average—Average weight, Average build, but I have a redhead’s pale skin.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
This one is hard. I was the idiot cheerleader who ended up pregnant with the captain of the football team’s baby. Circumstances, or more truthfully, Adam’s wicked Great Aunt Edith—forced me to move away from my home and my family. The last eleven years haven’t been easy, but I have a wonderful son. I wouldn’t be without Ben now. I trained as a teacher, and even scraped together enough cash to buy my grandmother’s hotel when she wanted to retire. Owning Devlin’s hotel was a childhood dream, but I’m a bit fazed by how much she’s let it go.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Yeah right. As if I have time for romance. Once, I dreamed of forever with Adam Devlin. We’d been dating for four years, then he dumped me right in the middle of dance floor at our senior prom. At least I know he’s moved on from Westhorpe Ridge now. According to his sister, he’s an army doctor serving in the Middle East. Not that I’m keeping track or anything.
Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Book smart, I guess. I have a Math degree with a minor in Business Studies. I’ve tried to wise up and be people smart too. I’ve been down on my luck myself, so I help out wherever I can, but most of my life’s devoted to raising Ben.
Do you get by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Comfortably? I wish. I had a nest egg, a payoff from Adam’s great aunt really, but I used it to get through school and put down the deposit on Devlin’s Hotel. Things are pretty tight, but they’ll get better when I’ve updated the hotel. The lunchroom’s keeping us afloat at the moment, and I’ve got a small emergency fund. I really need to be making a profit by summer though.
What is your viewpoint on wealth?
It depends what you do with it. Two of my friends, Jazz Stewart and Abigail Montgomery have just inherited a small fortune each. I know they’ll use it to do good things. Edith Montgomery, though—that’s Adam’s old bat of an aunt—used her millions to manipulate people. You wouldn’t believe the things she threatened to do to my family when I refused to abort my baby. The compromise was she paid me off and I left town after I signed a contract that said I couldn’t tell anyone who my baby’s father is. Not even Adam.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
Adam Montgomery. I guess part of my heart still belongs to him, but you hit the nail on the head when you called him my past.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most NOT want it to be, and why?
Adam Montgomery. It would kill me to see him with someone else. Now his great aunt’s dead though, I need to tell him about Ben. I’m not sure where I start with that, but he’s going to freak out when he discovers he has a ten-year-old son he’s never met.

What is your breaking point?
This damned hotel. I’m pretty close to throwing in the towel and going back to teaching. Every room needs a facelift, and I can’t afford to get people in to do it. I mean, I love the place, and Ben’s settled in Westhorpe Ridge now. The upside is I get more time with my son, but then I’m up at dawn and working until midnight.

Midnight Delight by @CadenceDenton #RLFblog #paranormal #mystery

Today's featured book is Midnight Delight by Cadence Denton.
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Cozy Mystery
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
Call me Contessa. Forget my name, you couldn't pronounce it. I'm a professional chef—actually, I'm the LeBron James of chefs. Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay even Julia Childs have all been my students, and that's just a few. I've probably forgotten more about the culinary arts than any chef alive has learned. I was in the thick of things when today's conventional culinary techniques were first being developed. You ever used the three basic steps in dicing an onion? Prego. That was me. Ever heard of clarified butter? Bingo. Me again.
How can that be? I was born in Genoa, Italy in the year of our Lord 1642. That's right. I'm an Eternal, a creature of darkness, a vampire…and I'm obsessed by what I cannot eat. Food.
Ironically, I'm the star of my very own cooking show on the Foodie Culinary Channel. My dream job! Where I get to create the recipes I adore and share them with my audience and one lucky dinner guest. Which is where my troubles began. And will end.
I was caught partaking the red jungle juice from the neck of my dinner date. I was threatened, attacked with Holy water, and finally blackmailed by my mild-mannered joke of an Associate Producer. As it turns out, she isn't so mild-mannered.
Now I have two choices: turn her into a child of darkness or risk exposure to the human world.
I'm thinking there's a third choice. His name is Rocco Guadagnino
[Review -- I adored this book! It's a quick read and more addictive than my husband's four-meat marinara. Fast-paced, quirky dialogue and a sweet paranormal romance, Midnight Delight will delight your reading taste buds. I can't wait to read the next installment in the series!]

I Love You Three @MilouKoenings #RLFblog sweet #romance

Welcome Milou Koenings, author of I Love You Three, a Green Pines Romance, a new sweet contemporary romance.
Why did you write this book?
Because the characters pretty much insisted!
As I was writing the first Green Pines Romance, Reclaiming Home, I found myself falling in love with Mac and Julie, a young couple who featured briefly in that story. I kept wondering how those two had met. Then I wrote another Green Pines Romance, and there they were again! So when I started hearing from readers how much they liked Julie and Mac as well, I knew I had to write their story.
They gave me an opportunity to delve into issues that are important to me, like the daily struggles of single moms, and post-traumatic stress disorder. And, of course, second chances and happy endings.
It's the newest in the Green Pines Romance series, but chronologically, it happens before any of the other three books.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Books with happy endings. That means romances are my favorite. If it's a romantic comedy, even better. I love an author who can make me laugh! (That said, I'm also a spy thriller junkie...)
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
At the moment, Juliet Ashton, from the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I love her wide-open heart, her grit, her wit, her love of books.
What are you working on at the moment?
Another Green Pines Romance, of course. And a new women's fiction series I hope to launch in the next year.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre: Sweet Contemporary Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G/PG
A former Marine. A single mom. Two broken people.
Mac's struggling to adjust to civilian life after the death in combat of his best friend. When a teaching job opens up in the small town where his friend used to work in the summers, Mac takes it as a sign and moves to Green Pines, hoping to find refuge from his demons.
For Julie, there's no refuge from night feedings, a crazy mom, an ex-mother-in-law and an overdrawn bank account. She's struggling to build a better life for herself and her baby and the only thing she knows is she's not falling for any guy again.

There's only one problem. You never know when love will knock you off your feet.

A Big Surprise--Times Three!
The last time rodeo cowboy Tyler Buckham was in Cowboy Creek, he spent a steamy night with local beauty Shay O'Neill. Back in town for a quick visit, he's hoping they'll have another go-around before he heads for his next rodeo. But seeing Shay pregnant--with triplets!--leaves Tyler feeling as if his best horse has kicked him in the gut.
Shay swore she wouldn't fall for an unreliable cowboy, and Tyler's playboy past makes him even less likely to settle down. The whole town conspires to push them together, and Tyler insists he wants to do his duty by Shay and the triplets, but Shay knows she can't count on promises from a cowboy. Besides, Tyler never once mentioned the word love…

About Barbara White Daille

Barbara lives with her husband in the sunny Southwest. Though they love the warm winters and the lizards in their front yard, they haven't gotten used to the scorpions in the bathroom. Barbara also loves writing, reading, and chocolate. Come to think of it, she enjoys writing about those subjects, too!
Barbara wrote her first short story at the age of nine, then typed "The End" to her first novel many years later...in the eighth grade. Now she's writing contemporary romance on a daily basis, with an ongoing series from Harlequin Western Romance (The Hitching Post Hotel), a brand-new series from Entangled Bliss (Snowflake Valley), and many more books on the schedule.
She would love to have you stop by her website and blog and to look for her the next time you're on Facebook and Twitter.

Connor isn't fooled by Miranda's act for a second. He knows exactly who she is; the question is what does the lady want? After their first meeting, Connor knows what he wants – Miranda in his bed! But the more he's around Miranda the more he wants something more than a short-term fling. The question is does the lady want Connor – or his business?

About Kristina Knight

Once upon a time, Kristina Knight spent her days running from car crash to fire to meetings with local police--no, she wasn't a troublemaker, she was a journalist. Her career took her all over the United States, writing about everything from a serial killer's capture to the National Finals Rodeo. Along the way she found her very own Knight in Shining Cowboy Boots and an abiding love for romance novels. Kristina writes contemporary romance with a smattering of sass, sex and (of course) drama, and she loves hearing from readers. And just like the characters from her favorite books, she's living her own happily ever after.

When things heat up during the festivities, she finds herself face to face with the one man who just might hold the key to her heart.

In a futuristic world ruled by demons, werewolves are enslaved to fight in gladiatorial matches for the amusement of their evil masters.
Kiara remembers what life was like living free–before she was taken by demons and bred to gladiators so that the new generations of wolves would retain their ferocity but forget their freedom. Mated to top gladiator Grit, she has a son with this surprisingly gentle lover who is also planning their escape. When Grit is killed in the arena, his close friend Bolt upholds his promise to protect Kiara and the cub.
Bolt and Kiara have loved each other from the moment they met, but they buried their feelings because she was mated to his best friend. When Grit dies, despite their guilt, Bolt and Kiara surrender to their desire for each other. Will their love be strong enough to help them win freedom from their evil masters?

Always a fan of romance and the paranormal, I started writing over twenty years ago for pleasure. My first story, a short erotic vampire tale, was accepted for publication in 1996. Since then I've sold over one hundred short stories, novellas and novels.
I love to blend genres. I also love horror and a happily ever after, so my books can be a bit unusual. If you're looking for romance with witches, aliens, vampires, angels, demons, shapeshifters and more, there's a good chance you'll find something to your taste in my backlist.
When I'm not writing, I enjoy reading, watching horror and action movies, working out and spending time with my family and pets.
