Meet Twilka Zabour

Age: early 30's (but people live much longer in the future)
Gender: Female
Birthplace: on a rich Inner Sector planet
Profession: Fashion Designer/Interstellar Celebutante
Species (for scifi/fantasy characters):Human
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
Depends on the day and my mood! Usually about 5'5", brown eyes, good figure, hair brunette but subject to change on a whim.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I'm one of 37 children – my father is a generational billionaire and has had many wives and girlfriends. I used to spend all my time pleasure seeking and going wherever the excitement was to be found in the galaxy, but after surviving the titanic wreck of the cruise liner Nebula Dream, I realized I was capable of doing so much more. I established my own business as a fashion designer. Yes, I took a loan from my Dad, but I gave him a detailed business plan and have since paid him back. Sometimes I appear in trideo entertainments (equivalent to your movies) as myself. My earlier reputation as a 'celebrity' helps the business.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Khevan, a member of the D'nvannae Brotherhood. We fell in love during the catastrophic events of the Nebula Dream, but then he left me with no explanation…until we meet again at the start of Star Survivor.
How do you dress?
In the height of interstellar fashion, as decreed by me. (Twilka laughs) I source unusual materials from many worlds and try to give back by commissioning local women to create special designs, fabrics and accessories for my collections. I like dramatic clothes that capture attention, although I can be found in a simple cotton dress and sandals if the situation requires it. I don't do gimmicks but find my inspiration in the art, natural wonders and culture of planets I visit. I try to be respectful and mindful of the local beliefs and traditions.
Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Mostly self taught and widely experienced. Watching my father and my older brothers and sisters work in the Sectors corporate world taught me so much. My Dad would discuss business at the dinner table when he was home, and sometimes took us younger kids to the office or on business trips to observe. He intended for various of his offspring to take over different aspects of his corporate empire. Of course then I did the teenage rebellion thing! My years of traveling with fellow rich kids and idle celebrities were a school of hard knocks and dumb choices leading to my learning through consequences. I've also had some amazing mentors since I started my own business.
Do you get by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Classic poor little rich girl here. Never appreciated my good fortune properly until I survived the wreck and then decided to have my own business. Now that I make my own credits and pay my own bills, I'm much more sensible about what luxuries I give myself, and I try to give back on the worlds where I obtain my fabrics and accessories. A certain portion of profits from Zabour Designs goes to worthy projects, different on each planet, depending what they need most.
On what special skills do you rely?
I've always been able to draw and paint, and since I was a child I'd sketch clothing and accessories. I love to design. Even when the situation is at its worst in Star Survivor, I try to handle my stress by doing new drawings. I'm good with people, I understand business and I've learning I'm very good in a crisis situation. Not much rattles me.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
For five years I dreaded meeting Khevan again, since he'd left me with no explanation and returned to the service of the Red Lady, the goddess he served. Yet on the other hand, I longed to give him a piece of my mind…and maybe a second chance. So when we did encounter each other at the beginning of the adventure known as Star Survivor, I had so many mixed emotions to deal with.
What past event causes you the most fear?
I used to have terrible flashbacks to certain events that happened during the wreck of the Nebula Dream, but if Khevan and I were going to survive the Red Lady's wrath in Star Survivor, I literally had to face those fears and overcome them. The advantage I had this time – besides Khevan's love – was that I know myself now and how strong I really.

Brette: Intentions Gone Astray #regency #romance @Collette_Author #RLFblog

Welcome Collette Cameron author of Brette: Intentions Gone Astray, a new Regency Romance.
Why did you write this book?
Brette: Intentions Gone Astray is the third book in my Conundrums of the Misses Culpepper series.
I knew Brette, and her hero, Alexander Hawksworth had to have their own happily-ever-after since the first moment they met, and she thought he was a valet.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Historical romance and just about every subgenre.
I like the little historical tidbits I learn while I'm indulging in a romantic read.
It's sort of like hiding veggies in macaroni and cheese so my kiddos didn't realize they were getting healthy food with one of their favorite meals.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I usually say the Count of Monte Cristo, and he's still my standby hero, but I was just thinking about The Three Musketeers the other day. I've always been a fan of D'Artagnan.
What are you working on at the moment?
I just finished up a novella for a boxed set releasing in March, Regency Ever Afters, and I'm closing in on the last chapter of another novella for—you guessed it—another set, The Forbidden Highlands.
As soon as that's finished, I'll jump right into the 6th and final book in my Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Well, I already mentioned two of the sets I'm involved with, but there are two more as well: Her Perfect Gentleman and A Lady for Every Lord. You'll also see Passion and Plunder, the 5th book in my Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series.
Please tell us about your latest book.
He thought his adventures were over...
A rogue reluctantly turned rector, Alexander Hawksworth, prefers soirées to sermons and parties to prayers. Though impoverished, he seizes every opportunity to escape parish duties, preferring to hob nob with London's finest–especially after the precocious and petite Brette Culpepper arrives in Town. Alex secretly fantasizing about claiming the breathtaking beauty as his very own, and when he unexpectedly inherits an earldom, he's determined to make her his countess... Until he's accused of murdering the previous earl.
Then she burst headlong into his life...
New to Society, Brette adores the whirlwind social scene, the stream of invitations... the slightly-sensual verbal sparring with the devilishly attractive, much too witty, and oh so unsuitable Mr. Hawksworth. But her fairy tale existence crashes to a halt when rumors circulate she's a peer's illegitimate granddaughter. Even though he's left her a tidy inheritance, formerly hospitable doors slam in her face as a newly appointed guardian emerges, intent on stealing her wealth and forcing her to wed an elderly despot.
Time is against them as Alex struggles to clear his name and deliver the woman he loves from an unthinkable fate

Hills of Gold Unchanging #Romance #Suspense @LizziTremayne #RLFblog

Welcome Lizzi Tremayne, author of Hills of Gold Unchanging, a new Romantic Suspense novel.

About Lizzi Tremayne

Lizzi grew up riding wild in the Santa Cruz Mountain redwoods, became an equine veterinarian at UC Davis and practiced in the California Pony Express and Gold Country before emigrating to New Zealand. When she's not writing historical romantic suspense, veterinary nonfiction and fiction (pending), Lizzi practices equine medicine, teaches, farms, rides and drives horses, swings rapiers and shoots bows in medieval garb.
With her first novel, Lizzi was awarded: Finalist 2013 RWNZ Great Beginnings, Winner 2014 RWNZ Pacific Hearts Award, Winner 2015 RWNZ Koru Award for Best First Novel plus third in Koru Long Novel section, and finalist in the 2015 Best Indie Book Award.
Why did you write this book?
Actually, I hadn't intended to write it at all! I'd completed A Long Trail Rolling, the first book in The Long Trails Series, and was nearly finished writing A Sea of Green Unchanging, then the second book in the series, during NaNoWriMo when two of my beta readers told me there was another story to be written between the end of Book One and its epilogue.
"No, there isn't," I said, with uncertainty.
"Oh, yes, there is," they both said.
"Okay," I finally agreed, thinking I'd simply write a novella and get it out of the way…and them off my back.
Kate and Matt, thank you. You were right and I was wrong. The Hills of Gold Unchanging needed to be written, and so this short, stopgap novel became the 170,000 words saga it is now.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Historical Romantic Suspense. I was hooked on the genre early on when I read my first Mary Stewart novel, Airs Above the Ground.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
That would have to be Vanessa March, the heroine in Airs Above the Ground. She is a classy, feisty veterinarian with real heart. I seem to see her in most of my heroines!
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I am finally getting to finish A Sea of Green Unfolding! In the story, tragedy strikes in Aleksandra and Xavier's newly-found paradise on their California Rancho de las Pulgas. Von Tempsky invites them on a journey to a new life in peaceful New Zealand, but change is in the wind. When they reach Aotearoa, they disembark into a turbulent wilderness—where the wars between the European settlers and the local Māori have only just begun. It will be released 1 May 2017 and is available for preorder on the regular sites.
Please tell us about your latest book.
In this sequel to A Long Trail Rolling, Aleksandra and Xavier's saga continues over the Utah Pony Express Trail, through the mining camps of 1860's Nevada and California, the Sacramento floods and Old San Fran to Xavier's family hacienda, the Californio Rancho de las Pulgas. As the Civil War rages, secessionists menace California. Embroiled in the Confederates' fight to drag the new state from the Union and make it their own, can Aleks and Xavier survive? The secessionists mean business. No one will stand in their way—and live.
